Searching the Internet

Searching the WebFinding what you want on the Internet is a difficult process especially when you consider that there are 55 billion documents on the web. Training your staff, students or yourself takes time and a set of tried and proven strategies. The author has been lecturing on searching the web for over 5 years and introduces a range of search tools, with guidance on how to use which one and when.

This book is a self paced learning module suitable for teachers and senior students (years 10-12) which outlines a process for carrying out research on the internet. Find what you want quickly and easily using the strategies outlined in this book.

Students need to be taught how to access information, choose the most appropriate information format, be able to apply tools to this format so that they manipulate the information in such a way that it improves their model of understanding of that topic. Knowing facts and understanding concepts are separated by a chasm that can only be scaffolded by knowing which learning tools to apply to each particular situation.
